The Vilakati Journey

Mapile and Hannah Vilakati

Who we are:

Our names are Hannah and Mapile Vilakati and we live in Swaziland, Africa. Mapile was born and bred in Swaziland. Hannah was born in the USA and grew up as a missionary kid in Zambia. We have been married since August 2015, and our beautiful daughter, Simo, was born November 1st, 2016. Currently we are living at a Wesleyan Bible College in Swaziland where Mapile is a staff member. Hannah is working as a supervising pediatric nurse in a children's home for an organization called Heart for Africa.

While this is where we currently are, we are also planning and looking forward to a ministry that God has put on our hearts for a place in the southern part of Swaziland called Mbutfu, which is where Mapile grew up. Our dream is to bring radical change to the young people there by building a community center that offers support and encouragement to the youth of the area. Though this is the big dream, our heart is to serve the people of Swaziland daily to make a difference for the Kingdom of God.

Who we serve:

We serve the people of Swaziland.

How you can pray:
  • Pray for us as a family, that we would live our lives in a way that honors and glorifies the Lord.
  • Pray for the people of Swaziland, that they might have a real encounter with God that might transform them into having radically changed lives.
  • Check out our blog www.hannahandmapile.blogspot.com to see what’s currently going on in our lives, and to see an updated list of prayer requests.

So we came back to Swaziland at the end of August, and to say that we have hit the ground running would be an understatement. We arrived in Swaziland on a Friday evening, and the following Monday we both went back to work. Mapile started teaching a New Testament course at the Bible College, and I dove back into nursing care of the children at Project Canaan (where we currently have 164 children). A week after we got back, four kids from Gogo’s (Grandma’s) house came to stay with us […]

  • Visit to the US
by Hannah Cromer on August 22, 2017 at 3:17 am

We are rounding up the end of our 6 week trip to the US to visit family. This has been a very fun and refreshing trip, and it came at such a great time for Mapile and I. It had been two years since I had been to the States, and it's been so wonderful getting to see my friends and family! If you have traveled over seas much, you can imagine it's also been an emotional roller coaster for us (especially me) - so many feelings of: happy to see family, missing things about […]

We are flying to America this Tuesday. We are so excited to go back and visit my family! I left the States in June 2015 as a single woman… and I’m returning in July 2017 with my husband and beautiful daughter! This is a very exciting time. I should say that this trip is coming at a good time for me personally. Lately I think I’ve been facing a lot of culture shock and all the emotions that go along with it. I’m looking forward to seeing my family again, and being in an […]
